Morena/Gwalior, 14th Sept: Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region Jyotiraditya Scindia on Saturday announced the expansion of the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and inaugurated a Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) in Morena, calling the scheme “not just a bank account, but a mother’s confidence, a father’s pride, and society’s trust.”

Addressing a large gathering, Scindia urged parents to open Sukanya accounts and strengthen their daughters’ future “with monthly savings and daily support.” He reminded that over 2,500 families across Ashoknagar, Shivpuri and Guna districts have already joined the scheme and pledged his personal contribution to every new account opened by May 1, 2026.

Highlighting the new passport centre, Scindia said residents of Morena, Sheopur and adjoining Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh will no longer need to travel to Gwalior, Guna or Bhopal for passport services. The centre will offer 40 additional appointment slots daily and, he said, “stand as a symbol of convenience and empowerment for generations.”

Recalling his family’s legacy of women’s empowerment, Scindia quoted his grandmother, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia: “The hands that rock the cradle can rule the world.”

He reaffirmed his commitment to support every daughter’s dreams and to the all-round development of the Chambal region, promising to address water scarcity, complete the Sheopur–Kota rail link and finish the 88 km Morena highway stretch that will cut Delhi travel time to less than 2.5 hours.

Becoming emotional, the minister concluded, “Every ounce of energy in my body is dedicated to the soil of Chambal, Gwalior and Malwa.”
