Mumbai, 3rd Oct: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar on Friday narrated a chilling real-life incident involving his 13-year-old daughter while playing an online video game, underlining the rising cybercrime threat targeting children.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Cyber Awareness Month 2025 at the State Police Headquarters in Mumbai, Akshay recalled how an unknown gamer approached his daughter with a disturbing request.
“My daughter was playing a video game… a stranger asked if she was male or female. When she replied female, he sent a message asking her to send nude pictures. She immediately shut down the game and told my wife. This is how cybercrime begins,” Akshay said, urging parents and schools to take stronger measures.
The actor appealed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to introduce a mandatory “cyber period” in schools from classes 7 to 10, where students are educated weekly about the dangers of online crime.
“You all know this crime is becoming bigger than street crime. It is very important to stop this crime,” he stressed.
The event was attended by CM Fadnavis, Maharashtra DGP Rashmi Shukla, senior IPS officer Iqbal Singh Chahal, and actress Rani Mukerji. Akshay Kumar’s stark revelation added urgency to the ongoing efforts to curb cyber threats in the state.
