New Delhi, 23rd Dec. Raigarh MP Gomti Sai, while speaking on the Quantitative Error Amendment Bill in the House on Tuesday, said that Mr. Speaker, first of all, I thank you from the bottom of my heart that you have given me an opportunity to speak in the amendment bill that benefits the people of the tribal community. I want to put my point in brief in support of the amendment bill brought by the Prime Minister and the honorable Tribal Minister.

Mr. Speaker, the state from which I was elected, Chhattisgarh, is a tribal state with tribal settlements stretching from Bastar to Surguja. Tribals account for 30% of the state’s total population. The Central Government has designated five tribes as the most backward tribes. Aside from that, the state government regards two tribes as extremely backward.

Despite this, many caste communities in the state, despite being tribal, did not benefit from government schemes due to a quantitative error in the name of caste. More than 20 lakh tribals who were denied their rights due to a clerical error will be granted their rights as a result of the amendment bill, which will benefit the tribal community.

“Mr. Speaker, I am a Member of Parliament from a forest-dominated area, the amendment bill that is being discussed today is going to bring revolutionary changes in the lives of 12 such tribes, Bharia Bhumia Dhanuhar Savra and especially the Nagesia community.

Ever since the provision of reservation has been made in the constitution, these communities have been deprived of the benefits of reservation due to quantity error or other reasons, it cannot be imagined how much happiness will come in their lives by the passage of this bill,” she said.

She said, “After these caste communities are added to the list of Scheduled Tribes, they will be eligible for the government’s Scheduled Tribes schemes. Scholarships, concessional loans, and hostel facilities will be available for boys and girls from Scheduled Tribes. At the same time, reservation will be available in government jobs and educational institutions.”

She went on to say, “Speaker Sir, the question of reservation is not only limited to education, employment, empowerment, but today this subject is also connected with its existence. Tribals are basically worshipers of nature, they consider forest, river, mountain, mountain and motherland as their gods. The makers of our constitution made a provision for reservation in the constitution for the deprived people living in remote forests.”

The MP said, “Finally, I express my heartfelt gratitude to the Tribal Minister of the Government of India for bringing the amendment bill for the people of Bharia Bhumia, Dhanuhar, Nagesia, and other communities, and I support the proposed amendment MLA on behalf of all these communities. And, at the moment, some other tribes are not receiving benefits due to quantity errors; I would like work done for those tribes through you.”

While I support the motion, Speaker Sir, I would also like to draw attention to the fact that our area is inhabited by a very backward Korba tribe, which is recognized as His Excellency the President’s adopted son. This Korwa tribe is divided into two parts, Speaker Sir. One hill is known as Korwa, while the other is known as Dehari Korwa.

Mr. Speaker, Pahadi Korwa has all of the reservation benefits, but Dehari Korwa is still not getting them. They should be given the benefit of reservation as well. I’d like to conclude my remarks by thanking you from the bottom of my heart for the opportunity to speak.

Sai concluded by criticizing the Chhattisgarh government, claiming that due to the state government’s negligence, tribal reservation in Chhattisgarh has decreased. There was a debate in the House about this.
