Bhopal, 11th July: On the occasion of Guru Purnima, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched a fresh push to incentivize academic excellence by announcing the distribution of free scooties to Class 12 toppers and 1 lakh laptops to students scoring 75% and above in board exams.

Speaking at the Kamla Nehru Sandipani School in Bhopal on Thursday, CM Yadav personally handed out bicycles to students of Class 6 and 9, continuing the state’s initiative to support school-going children. He then declared, “We will give laptops to students scoring above 75% and scooty to school toppers next month. And there will be no issue of petrol—we will distribute electric vehicles.”

The Chief Minister emphasized that this move is part of the broader Pratibhashali Vidyarthi Protsahan Yojana, a scheme of the School Education Department aimed at supporting meritorious students across government and private schools. “Last year we distributed 94,000 laptops. This year, we will go beyond 1 lakh,” Yadav added.

₹235 Crore Laptop Grants Transferred
Just last week, CM Yadav disbursed ₹235.58 crore in direct bank transfers to 94,234 eligible students under the same scheme. Each student received ₹25,000 towards purchasing a laptop. The event took place at the Kushabhau Thakre Convention Centre in Bhopal, where Yadav addressed a large gathering of students and teachers.

“Today’s program concludes the direct grant to 94,234 Class 12 students from government and private schools who scored 75% or more,” said Yadav. “Over the past 15 years, more than 4.32 lakh students have benefitted from this scheme.”

No Tender, Direct Scooty Distribution
Addressing earlier controversies, Yadav made it clear that the scooty distribution process would be transparent and direct. “Some people are spreading misinformation that tenders will be floated. Let me clarify—no tender will be placed. Students will directly receive the scooty of their choice—petrol or electric,” he told ANI.

Earlier in February, CM Yadav had symbolically handed over scooty keys to 10 out of 7,900 top-performing students from the 2023-24 academic session.

State Pushes for Education and Mobility
By combining financial aid, transport support, and recognition for academic excellence, the Madhya Pradesh government is aiming to create a more inclusive and aspirational environment in the education sector.

The move has been widely welcomed by students and educators, who view it as a step toward reducing dropout rates and encouraging rural and urban students alike to strive for academic success.
