New Delhi, 7th Feb. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah on Tuesday reaffirmed the Modi government’s dedication to fortifying India’s borders.
In a recent announcement on ‘X’, the Home Minister declared the government’s decision to erect a fence along the entire 1643-kilometer-long Indo-Myanmar border, enhancing surveillance with the construction of a patrol track.
Shah elaborated, stating that a 10 km stretch in Moreh, Manipur, has already been fenced, marking the initial phase of the project.
Additionally, two pilot projects employing a Hybrid Surveillance System (HSS) are underway, set to fence a stretch of 1 km each in Arunachal Pradesh and Manipur. Furthermore, approvals have been granted for fence works covering approximately 20 km in Manipur, with construction slated to commence soon.
The initiative underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to bolstering national security and safeguarding India’s borders against external threats.
