Mumbai, 25th Oct. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena is preparing to field Rajya Sabha MP Milind Deora as its candidate from Worli in the upcoming assembly elections on November 20. According to a party functionary, Deora’s nomination has been finalized and is expected to be officially announced within the next few days.
Deora has also hinted at his candidacy, stating, “Chief Minister @mieknathshinde ji believes that justice for #Worli & Worlikars is long overdue. Together, we’re paving the way forward & will share our vision soon. It’s Worli NOW!” in a recent post on X.
The Worli seat is a significant battleground, with both Shiv Sena and the BJP—partners in the Mahayuti coalition alongside Ajit Pawar’s NCP—vying for control. The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), led by Raj Thackeray, has also announced a candidate for the constituency.
Milind Deora, who previously represented the Mumbai South Lok Sabha seat for two terms and served as a Union minister, switched from the Congress to the Shiv Sena in January this year. Worli is one of six assembly seats that fall under the Mumbai South parliamentary constituency, making it a critical area for the upcoming elections.
