Midnight Earthquake in Nepal Claims 128 Lives

Kathmandu, 4th Nov. A powerful earthquake that originated in Nepal’s Jajarkot district at midnight on Friday has resulted in the tragic loss of at least 128 lives.

According to Nepal Television, 80 people were killed and over 140 sustained injuries in the Jajarkot and Rukum districts of Western Nepal.

The earthquake, measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale, had its epicenter in Lamidanda, located in the Jajarkot district.

The impact of the quake, which occurred at 11:47 pm on Friday, was felt not only in Kathmandu and surrounding areas but also as far as New Delhi in neighboring India.

Prime Minister Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda, accompanied by a medical team, headed to the site of the incident on Saturday morning. Both the Nepal Army and Nepal Police have been mobilized to conduct rescue operations, as stated by officials.
