Mesmerism is an age-old healing science that emphasizes the power of unseen energy flow between humans. Developed by Franz Anton Mesmer in the 18th century, this theory, though once debated, became the foundation of hypnosis and several modern therapeutic practices. In today’s era of global governance and holistic health, Mesmerism regains relevance as people seek non-drug, natural methods of healing.
What is Mesmerism Theory?
Mesmerism is based on animal magnetism, the idea that a natural magnetic force exists within all living beings. By directing this force through eyes, hands, and intention, balance in body and mind can be restored
Who Discovered It?
Franz Anton Mesmer (1734–1815), a German physician, is the founder.
His concept of “magnetic fluid” later influenced hypnosis, psychotherapy, and modern energy healing
Why is it Needed?
Stress, anxiety, insomnia, and psychosomatic disorders are rising worldwide.
Modern medicine often focuses only on symptoms, not the root causes.
Mesmerism provides a natural, side-effect-free alternative.
Benefits
Self-benefit: Deep relaxation, improved focus, emotional release.
For others: Helps in stress relief, anxiety reduction, pain management, and better sleep.
Holistic profit: Enhances body–mind harmony, reduces medicine dependency, and supports mental health programs.
Practical Procedures of Mesmerism for Healing
A mesmerist uses non-verbal techniques to induce a healing state. Some key methods:
1. Magnetic Passes – Slowly move hands from head to foot, a few inches above the body, without touching. Balances energy
2. Eye Gazing (Fascination) – Maintain a steady gaze to induce calm trance and inner focus
3. Hand Placement – Keep hands near the affected area for energy transfer.
4. Breath & Intention – Controlled breathing with focused healing intent strengthens the process.
5. Self-Mesmerism – Mirror-gazing, breathing, and visualization for personal relaxation and healing.
Step-by-Step: How to Start Mesmerism at Home (Beginner’s Guide)
1. Prepare the Space
Quiet room, dim lighting, and comfortable seating.
Keep distractions away (mobile, noise, etc.).
2. Relax Yourself First
Sit comfortably, close eyes for 2 minutes.
Take deep, slow breaths to center yourself.
3. Eye Gazing
If practicing on another person: ask them to sit relaxed.
Gently gaze into their eyes without strain for 1–2 minutes. This builds connection.
4. Magnetic Passes
Move your hands slowly over their head, shoulders, and down the body (6–8 inches above the skin).
Repeat 5–7 times. Always move hands downward (head to feet).
5. Energy Concentration
Place your hands near the chest, forehead, or affected area.
Imagine calm energy flowing into them.
6. Closing the Session
End with 2–3 downward passes.
Ask them to take deep breaths and open their eyes slowly.
7. Self-Mesmerism (if practicing alone)
Sit before a mirror, gaze at your eyes.
Do slow hand passes over your body.
Breathe deeply and visualize peace entering you.
Duration: 15–20 minutes per session, 3–4 times weekly.
Why Other Countries Followed
Spread rapidly across Europe (France, England) and later to America.
Inspired medical hypnosis and psychotherapy.
Today, modern hypnotherapy (accepted in many countries) has its roots in Mesmerism.
Indian Perspective
India’s Tantric, Yogic, and Ayurvedic traditions already worked with energy, prana, and mental focus.
Mesmerism resonated naturally with Indian healing methods like mantra, meditation, chakra balancing, and pranayama.
Indian healers continue to integrate Mesmerism with Ayurveda and hypnosis.
Mesmerism, though centuries old, has a strong role in today’s healing landscape. It offers stress relief, emotional healing, and mental strength without medicine. As nations look for cost-effective health solutions under global governance, Mesmerism—especially when blended with India’s rich traditions—can emerge as a powerful tool for sustainable well-being.
According to me, Mesmerism is not only a scientific milestone but also a future path to global mental health when united with Indian wisdom
