Chennai, 7th July. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati has called for a CBI investigation into the murder of her party’s Tamil Nadu president, K Armstrong, who was brutally hacked to death in Chennai on Friday.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the arrests made so far, Mayawati asserted that the real perpetrators have not been apprehended.
Mayawati urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin to transfer the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to ensure justice for Armstrong.
She slammed the state’s law and order situation, citing Armstrong’s killing as evidence of its breakdown.
Mayawati, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, paid her respects to Armstrong at a solemn ceremony in Perambur, Chennai. She condemned Armstrong’s murder, emphasizing that it has left the Dalit community in Tamil Nadu feeling insecure.
While acknowledging the BSP’s serious concern over the incident, Mayawati cautioned party members against taking matters into their own hands.
She called upon Chief Minister Stalin to guarantee the safety of Dalits across the state in the wake of Armstrong’s tragic death.
