Mauritius, 1st March. Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth expressed his appreciation to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for elevating the relationship between their two nations during a joint inauguration ceremony. The leaders jointly inaugurated six community development projects in Mauritius through video conferencing.
Jugnauth hailed the occasion as historic, particularly highlighting the inauguration of a new airstrip and jetty on the Islands of Agalega. He emphasized that these projects symbolize the deep partnership between Mauritius and India, thanking India for fully financing these infrastructural endeavors.
Expressing gratitude for Modi’s commitment to Mauritius, Jugnauth lauded the Indian community’s global contributions in various fields. He credited Modi for enhancing the Mauritius-India relationship and honored him for attending the significant event amidst his busy schedule.
The Jan Aushadhi Scheme, initiated by the Indian government, aims to provide affordable generic medicines. Its launch in Mauritius underscores the countries’ shared commitment to enhancing healthcare accessibility.
The inauguration ceremony, attended by External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, signifies the longstanding development partnership between India and Mauritius. These projects aim to improve connectivity, maritime security, and socio-economic development, further strengthening bilateral relations.
The event follows the recent introduction of Unified Payments Interface (UPI) and RuPay Card services in Mauritius by PM Modi and PM Jugnauth on February 12, underscoring the ongoing collaboration and shared vision for progress between the two nations.
