New Delhi, 16th Sept: Mauritius Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Monday, marking the conclusion of his State Visit to India from September 9–16.

Welcoming the visiting leader and his delegation, President Murmu said Mauritius holds a special place in India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy, the MAHASAGAR Vision, and its commitment to the Global South.

She noted the steady growth of India–Mauritius ties across sectors, reflected in their elevation to an “Enhanced Strategic Partnership.” The President highlighted India’s continued support for Mauritius’ developmental priorities, including a new Special Economic Package that covers hospitals, roads, port development, defence procurement, and joint surveillance, along with cooperation in digital technologies and the space sector.

Both leaders affirmed that the historic and cultural bonds between the two nations would guide their partnership into new areas of cooperation. President Murmu expressed confidence that under Prime Minister Ramgoolam’s leadership, the long-standing bilateral relationship will strengthen further.

During his week-long visit, Prime Minister Ramgoolam also travelled to Mumbai, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Tirupati, underscoring the deep cultural ties between the two countries.
