Visakhapatnam, 18th Feb: President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday witnessed the International Fleet Review at Visakhapatnam, with navies from more than 70 countries participating in the global maritime event.

Addressing the gathering, the President said the Fleet Review reflects unity, trust, and respect among nations for maritime traditions. She noted that ships flying different flags and sailors from diverse countries embody the spirit of togetherness captured in the event’s theme, “United Through Oceans.”

Murmu said India’s approach to international relations, including the maritime domain, is guided by the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the world is one family. She said global security, sustainability, and stability are built through partnerships, making collective responsibility and cooperative action essential for a sound maritime order.

She added that the Fleet Review advances India’s vision of MAHASAGAR—Mutual and Holistic Advancement for Security and Growth Across Regions.

The President said the Indian Navy remains vigilant in safeguarding national maritime interests and contributes to stability across the wider maritime domain. She noted that naval units act as credible deterrents against threats and often serve as first responders during humanitarian crises and natural disasters.

Murmu also appreciated the officers and sailors from friendly foreign navies, saying their discipline, dedication, and competence form the foundation of collective maritime security. She expressed confidence that the participating navies would work together to ensure the oceans remain gateways for global growth and prosperity.
