Alluri Sitharamaraju, 18th Nov: Notorious Maoist commander Madvi Hidma, one of the most wanted leaders of the CPI (Maoist), was shot dead in an encounter in Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitharamaraju district. The gunfight erupted near the Andhra–Chhattisgarh–Telangana tri-junction, a dense forest belt known to house several Maoist hideouts.
Top security sources confirmed that at least six bodies of Maoist rebels have been sighted at the encounter spot. The multi-state anti-Naxal operation remains underway, with forces continuing their search through the rugged terrain.
Born in 1981 in Sukma—then a part of undivided Madhya Pradesh—Hidma rose through the ranks of the Maoist organisation to command a battalion of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA). Known for his guerrilla warfare skills and operational planning, he became the youngest member of the outfit’s powerful Central Committee and its only tribal representative from Bastar.
Hidma was linked to more than two dozen deadly attacks targeting security personnel and civilians across central India. He carried a reward of ₹50 lakh.
Sources also indicated that Hidma’s wife, Raje alias Rajakka—believed to be an active Maoist cadre—has also been killed in the exchange of fire.
Security agencies view Hidma’s elimination as a major breakthrough in ongoing anti-Naxal operations across the Red Corridor. Further details are awaited as combing operations continue in the region.
