New Delhi, 3rd July. The bail application of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia was denied on Monday by the Delhi High Court in a case involving alleged irregularities in the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy.
According to the court, Sisodia is “not entitled to bail at this stage.”
In addition to Manish Sisodia, the high court denied requests for bail for Abhishek Boinpally, Benoy Babu, and Vijay Nair, who are co-accused in a money laundering case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the body that investigates financial crimes.
Manish Sisodia was detained for the first time by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on February 26, more than six months after a FIR was filed in the case. After hours of questioning at Tihar Jail, the ED arrested Manish Sisodia in the same case on March 9.
The AAP government implemented the Delhi excise policy in November 2021. It was canceled at the end of September last year due to corruption allegations.
Manish Sisodia is a defendant in the cases filed by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate.
