Senapati, 19th Feb. Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey undertook a visit to Senapati district on February 17, 2024, where she engaged in discussions with various civic, social, and student representatives.
The Governor listened to their grievances and assured all possible assistance for the welfare and development of the district. She was welcomed by the Deputy Commissioner, Mamoni Dole, the Superintendent of Police, Anupam, along with other officials, CSOs, and representatives.

During her interactions, the Governor met with representatives from various organizations, including the Naga Peoples’ Organization, Zeliangrong Union, Maring Union, Senapati District Women’s Association, All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur, Senapati District Students’ Association, Senapati District Olympics Association, and the Indian Red Cross Society.
The representatives raised several issues concerning the establishment of a medical college, construction of a multipurpose hall, upgrading Don Bosco College, setting up rehabilitation centers for substance abusers, establishing a blood bank at the district hospital, and improving lighting facilities at the Astro Turf field.
Additionally, the Red Cross Society requested the Governor’s assistance in providing ambulances. The representatives also submitted a memorandum urging for comprehensive support for the welfare of tribal communities in the district.
The Governor assured them of the commitment of both the Central and Manipur governments to develop the mountainous districts and initiate various welfare measures. She also inquired about the developmental activities undertaken in the district and directed the concerned officials to submit a detailed report in this regard.
Furthermore, the Governor attended the final match of the third edition of the Open Football Tournament commemorating Lieutenant Colonel Robert T.A. The tournament, organized by the Assam Rifles in memory of Colonel Robert T.A., witnessed a thrilling encounter where United Brothers FC (Ukhrul) emerged victorious against Tafo FC (Senapati) with a scoreline of 4-3.
Governor presented a cheque of three lakhs to United Brothers FC along with the winner’s trophy and a cheque of one lakh fifty thousand to Tafo FC along with the runner-up trophy. She also felicitated P. Chingpei, the wife of Lieutenant Colonel Robert T.A.
The grand finale was attended by Losii Dikho, MLA, IGAR (South) Major General V.K. Naambyar, and was witnessed by approximately 11,000 spectators.
