Raipur, 13th Oct. Amidst the ongoing political turmoil in the Chhattisgarh Congress at the state level, now the dispute has started at the district level as well. Its effect can be seen in Gariaband district where 200 workers including 4 District General Secretary, two Block General Secretary of the party have resigned from the party.
These workers have made serious allegations against Congress MLA Amitesh Shukla from Rajim. The workers allege that the MLA is supporting the same sarpanch against whom they are demanding action. While there are allegations of corruption at the panchayat level against the MLA.
This matter is of Kopra Panchayat in Gariaband district. Here the Congressmen have expressed their displeasure against the MLA by resigning from the party. Kopra Panchayat workers have sent resignation letters to Mohan Markam, state in-charge PL Punia, CM Bhupesh Baghel, district in-charge minister Amarjit Bhagat, MLA Amitesh Shukla, district president Bhavsinh Sahu and block president Rupesh Sahu. Names of District General Secretary Rajesh Yadav, Omkar Singh Thakur, Thakur Ram Sahu and Motilal Sahu are included. Apart from this, workers of more than 200 villages including 2 Block General Secretary Rickesh Sahu and Nandkumar Sahu have also resigned.
This whole matter has started with Dolly Sahu, the female sarpanch of Kopra Panchayat. The villagers allege that the Sarpanch has committed corruption on a large scale. That’s why they want to take action against the Sarpanch. These include Congress party workers and office bearers. But the workers allege that MLA Amitesh Shukla is not supporting them in this matter. Rather, he is supporting the Sarpanch. Due to this, the people of the village including Congress workers are very angry.
Kopra is the biggest gram panchayat of the district and is also considered a stronghold of the Congress. Resignation of a large number of Congress workers in this way can create a lot of problems for the Congress in the coming elections.
Congress District President Bhav Singh said that he has just got information about this matter. Along with this, he said that the resignation of any officer or worker will not be accepted. We will try to settle this matter by talks.
