New Delhi, 24th March: Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan on Tuesday urged members to maintain decorum in the House following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on a matter of urgent public importance.
Citing Rule 251 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Council of States, the Chairman clarified that ministers are permitted to make statements on critical issues without being subjected to questions at that time.
“The statement just made by the Hon’ble Prime Minister pertains to a critical issue of international diplomatic relations,” he said, calling on members to recognise the gravity of the matter and act in the broader national interest.
The Chairman stressed that maintaining order and discipline in the House is essential, particularly when discussions involve sensitive global developments.
He appealed to all members to extend full cooperation and uphold parliamentary decorum during such proceedings.
