New Delhi, 18th Jan.
Mahua Moitra, a former Lok Sabha MP who was expelled, has approached the Delhi High Court to challenge a notice issued by the Directorate of Estates. The notice demands that she vacate the government bungalow that was initially allotted to her but later revoked due to her expulsion.

Moitra’s plea against the eviction notice is scheduled to be heard by Justice Girish Kathpalia soon.

The notice, which instructed the Trinamool Congress leader to vacate the bungalow immediately, was issued on Tuesday.

Previously, Moitra was given until January 7 to vacate the house after her allotment was cancelled. She was expelled from the Lok Sabha on December 8 last year after being found guilty of “unethical conduct.”

The expulsion was a result of allegations that she accepted gifts and favors from businessman Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for asking questions that targeted his business rival, Gautam Adani.
