New Delhi, 3rd Jan. Mahua Moitra’s plea for relief from the Supreme Court has been denied, and the next hearing is scheduled for March.
Moitra, a leader of the Trinamool Congress, is facing allegations of accepting cash in exchange for asking critical questions in parliament.
The Supreme Court did not dismiss her challenge against her expulsion from parliament, but it will first determine if it has jurisdiction to hear the case.
The court stated that it will not comment on the merits of the issues raised by Moitra at this time.
Moitra will have three weeks to respond, and she remains expelled from the Lok Sabha until further notice.
The Supreme Court declined her request for an early hearing due to the upcoming Budget session.
Moitra has denied the bribery charges but admitted to sharing login details, arguing that this is a common practice among MPs.
