The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, has instructed district collectors to initiate a cleanliness campaign in all temples across the state. The aim is to make a noticeable difference within a week, in preparation for the consecration of the Lord Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22.

Shinde conveyed these instructions during a review meeting held at his official residence.

He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for the cleanliness of temples and urged district collectors in Maharashtra to take up this initiative. In addition to cleaning, the temples should also be adorned with electric lights to enhance their appearance.

Shinde stated that the District Planning and Development Council of each district should allocate funds for regular cleaning of temples and their surroundings. He suggested the formation of a special scheme for this purpose, with funds being allocated by the DPDCs.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister requested the state revenue department to appoint a nodal officer to oversee this work.
