Maharashtra Assembly Elections: Mahayuti Candidate List to be Announced in Navratri

GG News Bureau
Mumbai, 30th Sept. With the Maharashtra Assembly elections slated for before November 26, all political parties are ramping up their preparations. Reliable sources indicate that consensus has been reached regarding the announcement of the first list of candidates from the Mahayuti alliance. The timing for this announcement has also been finalized, with discussions suggesting that the first list may be revealed during the Navratri festival.

However, it remains unclear whether the list will exclusively feature candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or also include nominees from the Shinde Sena and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) led by Ajit Pawar. According to sources, the BJP is expected to unveil the names of 40 to 50 candidates during Navratri, with an agreement reached on 80 percent of seat-sharing within the Mahayuti. The BJP plans to contest between 125 and 140 seats in Maharashtra.

On the other side, Nana Patole, the head of the Congress Maharashtra unit, stated on Sunday that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition will finalize seat-sharing discussions for the assembly elections by early next week. He noted that MVA leaders will meet on September 30 and October 1 to finalize the seat-sharing formula. The MVA consists of the Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction of Shiv Sena, Sharad Pawar’s NCP, and Congress.

Patole emphasized, “We will contest the elections as MVA. There is no disagreement on this issue. Our discussions are ongoing.” Criticizing the Mahayuti, he questioned whether they even have a face for the Chief Minister position.
