Mahakumbh 2025: Over 7 Lakh Pilgrims Receive Medical Care in Prayagraj
AIIMS, BHU Experts Join Forces with International Specialists; Advanced Allopathy and AYUSH Treatment in Place
Prayagraj, 11th Feb. The Mahakumbh 2025 has set a new benchmark in healthcare services, with over 7 lakh pilgrims receiving medical treatment. The Mela administration has ensured world-class healthcare by integrating allopathic and AYUSH medicine, with experts from AIIMS Delhi, IMS BHU, and international specialists from Canada, Germany, and Russia working on the ground.
Comprehensive Healthcare Facilities
Nodal Medical Officer Dr. Gaurav Dubey stated that more than 4.5 lakh pilgrims have been treated at 23 allopathic hospitals, while 3.71 lakh pilgrims have undergone pathology tests. Additionally, 3,800 minor and 12 major surgeries have been successfully completed, demonstrating the efficiency of medical services at the grand religious gathering.
AYUSH Medicine Benefits Over 2.18 Lakh Pilgrims
Under the Ministry of AYUSH and Uttar Pradesh AYUSH Society, 20 AYUSH hospitals (10 Ayurveda, 10 Homeopathy) are providing round-the-clock medical care. So far, over 2.18 lakh pilgrims have benefited from Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Naturopathy treatments. Notable experts, including Dr. V.K. Joshi (Dean, BHU) and Dr. Thomas from Canada, are actively involved in treating pilgrims.
Yoga, Panchakarma, and Ayurvedic Treatments Gain Popularity
Traditional Panchakarma therapies, herbal-based treatments, yoga therapy, and naturopathy have gained significant attention. Yoga sessions, conducted by instructors from New Delhi, have drawn large participation, including international visitors. AYUSH kits, medicinal plants, and health awareness materials are being distributed to encourage a healthier lifestyle.
Special Ayurvedic ‘Swarnaprashan’ for Children
A unique initiative at Mahakumbh 2025 is the administration of Swarnaprashan, an Ayurvedic formulation given to children aged 1 to 12 years. Distributed on Pushya Nakshatra, this medicine is believed to enhance intelligence, immunity, and physical development.
