Bhopal, 7th Nov: The Madhya Pradesh Police training wing has directed all its centres to conduct Bhagavad Gita recitation sessions for recruits, aiming to promote righteousness and moral discipline among the trainees.

The directive was issued by Additional Director General of Police (Training) Raja Babu Singh to the superintendents of all eight police training schools in the state. Around 4,000 men and women currently undergoing a nine-month constable training since July will take part in the sessions.

Singh, an IPS officer of the 1994 batch, stated that reading the Bhagavad Gita regularly would guide the recruits toward a “righteous life” and improve their overall character. He suggested that at least one chapter be read daily during the holy month of Lord Krishna (Agahan Krishna), preferably before the daily meditation session.

Earlier, during the commencement of training in July, Singh had instructed trainees to recite verses from the Ramcharitmanas to instil discipline and virtues associated with Lord Rama’s life. He emphasized that such practices strengthen the moral foundation of police personnel.

While serving as the Gwalior range police chief in 2019, Singh had initiated a similar campaign by distributing copies of the Bhagavad Gita to local jail inmates and community members, advocating its spiritual guidance for all.
