Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has promised stringent action against those accountable for the devastating incident at a firecrackers factory in Harda, where an explosion and subsequent blaze claimed 11 lives and left over 200 injured. Yadav’s assurance came during his visit to Harda town, where he met with victims and their families.

Following the tragic event, which shook the state, Yadav emphasized that his government is committed to preventing similar mishaps and ensuring that those responsible face severe consequences. “Solid measures will be taken, and stern action will be initiated against the culprits,” he affirmed.

The government swiftly acted by transferring Harda Collector Rishi Garg and Superintendent of Police Sanjeev Kanchan. The General Administration Department issued orders to this effect, with Garg reassigned as a deputy secretary and Kanchan relocated to the state police headquarters in Bhopal as Assistant Inspector General (AIG).

In the wake of the incident, a three-member committee led by Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Dubey has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive investigation. The committee’s mandate is to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and recommend preventive measures to avert such incidents in the future.

Meanwhile, judicial proceedings have commenced with two individuals, including one of the factory owners, remanded to judicial custody, while another owner was placed under police remand. The police have booked them for culpable homicide not amounting to murder, among other charges.

The opposition Congress has raised concerns regarding the official death toll, alleging that the government is downplaying the severity of the tragedy. Madhya Pradesh Congress president Jitu Patwari demanded a thorough investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to uncover the truth behind the incident.

As the investigation progresses and the affected families grapple with the aftermath, the government remains committed to ensuring justice for the victims and preventing similar tragedies in the future.
