Machado, Nobel peace winner dedicates award to Trump ‘We count on US President’

WASHINGTON – Maria Corina Machado of Venezuelan, the opposition activist and politician who was awarded the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize said on Friday that the recognition will give a boost to the struggle of all Venezuelans to achieve freedom.

Machado dedicated the award “to the suffering people of Venezuela and to President Trump for his decisive support of our cause!”

Machado said on X, “This recognition of the struggle of all Venezuelans is a boost to conclude our task: to conquer Freedom.” in her first public reaction to the award.

She mentioned US President Donald Trump in her statement, stated the people of Venezuela count more than ever on the US President and other democratic countries to achieve freedom and democracy.

“We are on the threshold of victory and today, more than ever, we count on President Trump, the people of the United States, the peoples of Latin America, and the democratic nations of the world as our principal allies to achieve Freedom and democracy,” she stated.

It noted that US President Donald Trump was also among the contenders for the Nobel Peace Prize. Trump had been publicly campaigning for the award.

He had consistently argued that he deserves the prize for resolving and ending multiple conflicts, including the recent conflict between India and Pakistan.

Trump even garnered support from notable figures like Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the prize to Maria Corina Machado, a Venezuelan politician and democracy activist.
