Lansdowne, 28th June: Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman & Nicobar Command, Lieutenant General Dinesh Singh Rana today took over as the 23rd Colonel of the Regiment of the Garhwal Rifles, succeeding Vice Chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General NS Raja Subramani.
The baton was ceremonially handed over at the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre in Lansdowne, Uttarakhand, with full military honours. The event marked a celebration of the regiment’s storied legacy, courage, and martial traditions. The Garhwal Rifles, one of India’s most distinguished infantry regiments, comprises 27 battalions including a Scouts Battalion.
Lt Gen NS Raja Subramani was lauded for his inspirational leadership and unwavering commitment during his tenure, which significantly strengthened the regimental spirit and camaraderie.
Taking over the prestigious role, Lt Gen DS Rana – a decorated officer known for his operational expertise and strategic vision – paid homage at the War Memorial and received a Guard of Honour. He reaffirmed his resolve to uphold and advance the regiment’s proud heritage and the indomitable spirit of the Veer Garhwalis who have served the nation with unmatched valour.
