LS to Discuss Bill Seeking Extension of CBI, ED Director’s Tenure

New Delhi, 8th Dec. The government on Wednesday will try to pass the bills that have already been introduced in the Lok Sabha. The two bills are – the Central Vigilance Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2021, and the Delhi Special Police Establishment (Amendment) Bill, 2021. Both the bills were introduced in the lower house last week.

Climate change and various related aspects are also likely to be discussed in the Lok Sabha.

Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh will move bills to amend the Central Vigilance Commission Act, 2003 and the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946. He will also introduce bills for passing.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is to move that the following amendments have been made in the Bill to provide for monitoring, inspection, operation and maintenance of dams specified in the Dam Safety Bill, 2019 by Rajya Sabha for prevention of disasters related to dam failure. Matters connected with or incidental thereto shall be considered for institutional mechanisms to ensure their safe functioning. He will move that the amendments made by the Rajya Sabha be agreed.

The Dam Safety Bill, 2019 was passed by the Lok Sabha on August 2, 2019, and was transmitted to the Rajya Sabha for its concurrence. The Rajya Sabha passed the bill with amendments on December 2, 2021 and returned it to the Lok Sabha on December 3.

Under Rule 193, Kanimozhi Karunanidhi and N.K. Premachandran has to discuss climate change.

Union Ministers of State Raosaheb Dadarao Danve, Darshan Jardosh, Som Prakash and Devsinh Chouhan may make statements on the status of implementation of the recommendations or comments of the Standing Committee relating to their respective ministries.
