New Delhi, 20th May. With increased confidence, the Bharatiya Janata Party hopes to make more inroads into Southern India. In the first four rounds of the Lok Sabha elections, voters in the major southern states—Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, and Karnataka—have already cast their ballots.
These states contain 130 seats, and under Narendra Modi’s direction, the saffron party has worked hard to gain ground in these states. The BJP leader is optimistic about a saffron surge in the southern states, despite Prime Minister Modi having visited them before the opening of the Ram Temple.
In an interview with PTI, Prime Minister Modi asserted that the BJP will become the only political party in the south. Additionally, he stated that on June 4, the NDA will surpass 400 seats. According to Modi, the notion that the BJP is weak or nonexistent in the southern states has been propagated by his rivals.
Looking at the elections of 2019. The BJP was, even then, the biggest party in the south. Once more, I say this: the BJP and its allies will get more (seats) to make up the largest party in the south this time.Modi declared, “We will be the only party in Southern India, and by a greater margin than the last time.”
Currently, out of the 130 MPs, the BJP has 29, with most of them coming from Karnataka. We’re going to set new records with the help of the people. More seats from across the nation, but especially from the east and south, will be present,” he declared.
According to Modi, the narrative surrounding the BJP’s weakness in the south is a component of a campaign that has portrayed the party in a number of ways, including as being ‘Baniya-Brahmin’, urban-centric, male-centric, and north-centric. This time, the Prime Minister said, the BJP would dispel these falsehoods.
