New Delhi, 31st July. The Lok Sabha was adjourned till noon on Wednesday due to disruptions caused by opposition members protesting BJP member Anurag Thakur’s remarks and demanding a caste census.

During the Question Hour, the Lower House saw chaotic scenes as many members entered the Well of the House and chanted slogans.

Congress members were particularly vocal against Thakur’s comments about Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi’s caste during a Union Budget discussion on Tuesday.

Speaker Om Birla addressed the protesting members, criticizing their approach and calling it inappropriate. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju condemned the protests, accusing the Congress of trying to undermine the country’s stability.

The opposition members, including those from Congress, DMK, Samajwadi Party, and Shiv Sena (UBT), continued their protest, with some tearing and throwing papers. As the disruptions persisted, Speaker Birla adjourned the proceedings until noon.
