New Delhi, 24th Feb. Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, underscored the government’s proactive stance in curbing terrorism under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Emphasizing an aggressive strategy, Shah noted significant progress in combating left-wing extremism, attributing its decline to robust government policies.
In a series of statements, Amit Shah highlighted the diminishing influence of left-wing extremism, stating that it is now on its last legs due to decisive government action. He credited the Modi government for prioritizing the welfare of impoverished communities in Naxalism-affected areas, bolstering healthcare and education infrastructure to win their hearts.
The Home Minister lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary policies, which he asserted had eradicated the breeding ground for left-wing extremism. Shah commended the government’s holistic approach, combining development initiatives with stringent security measures to tackle Naxalism effectively.
Citing data from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Amit Shah revealed a significant decline in left-wing extremism-related violence and casualties over the past decade. Incidents of leftist extremism reduced by 52%, with a corresponding decrease of 69% in fatalities from 6035 to 1868 between 2014-23 compared to 2004-14. Security force casualties decreased by 72%, and civilian deaths dropped by 68% during the same period.
