Jammu, 27th Aug: A devastating landslide on the Vaishno Devi Yatra route in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir, has resulted in the death of 30 people.
The tragic incident occurred on Tuesday near the Ardhkunwari temple, as heavy rainfall continued to lash the region, triggering floods and widespread landslides.
The situation has become chaotic for many devotees, with thousands of pilgrims left stranded on the route to the Vaishno Devi temple in Katra. The adverse weather conditions have severely disrupted travel and a massive number of trains have been affected.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences and assured all possible assistance to those affected by the disaster.
Northern Railways has announced significant disruptions to train services. As per an official release, 58 trains have been temporarily cancelled, while 46 trains have been short-terminated, and 18 trains have had their origination point changed.
An additional three trains have been fully diverted, causing major inconvenience for travelers in the region.
