Patna, 23rd June: Ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday filed his nomination for the post of National President of the party for a record 13th consecutive term.

The veteran leader was joined by a show of family unity, with son and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav, wife Rabri Devi, daughter Misa Bharti, and top RJD leaders present during the filing at the party headquarters in Patna. The atmosphere turned festive as large crowds of supporters chanted “Lalu Yadav Zindabad”, celebrating the leader’s enduring influence on Bihar’s political landscape.

Speaking to the media, Tejashwi Yadav said, “Lalu Prasad Yadav has completed 12 terms as the National President, and now he has filed for the 13th. It is a matter of great happiness that the party will continue to receive his guidance.”

Party insiders confirmed that no other nomination was filed for the top post until the 2 PM deadline, all but confirming Lalu’s unopposed re-election. The official declaration is expected on July 5, which the party plans to celebrate as “Lalu Samman Diwas”.

However, one notable absence from the event was former Bihar RJD President Jagdanand Singh, who has reportedly been at odds with Tejashwi Yadav in recent weeks. His non-attendance has sparked fresh speculation about internal rifts within the RJD ranks.

Despite this, the party appeared in high spirits and united for the electoral challenge ahead. “The RJD organisation is strong. Our workers are energised and ready for the elections,” Tejashwi said, adding that Lalu’s leadership would be key to mobilising grassroots support and consolidating the party’s base.
