KVIC Launches Collaboration for Styling of DD News / DD India Anchors

Chairman of the Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC), Manoj Kumar, launched a collaborative effort for the styling of DD News / DD India anchors in a step aimed at promoting Khadi and showcasing its cultural significance.

The initiative, initiated as part of the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between KVIC and Prasar Bharati, was unveiled on March 9, 2024, at Doordarshan Bhavan, Mandi House, New Delhi, in the presence of Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Prasar Bharati, and the team of Doordarshan.
Addressing the gathering, Chairman KVIC emphasized the importance of integrating Khadi into the attire of DD News / DD India anchors, stating that “Naye Bharat ki Nayi Khadi” is ready to adorn all anchors.

He hailed this collaboration as a realization of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to popularize Khadi at a national level, encapsulating the mantra of “Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion, and Khadi for Transformation.”

Highlighting the remarkable growth of the Khadi and Village Industry (KVI) sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, Chairman Kumar noted that the sector has surpassed a turnover of Rs. 1.34 lakh crore and has generated over 9.50 lakh new jobs over the past nine years.

This achievement, he emphasized, is a testament to the government’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of Khadi artisans and the promotion of indigenous industries.

Gaurav Dwivedi, CEO of Prasar Bharati, echoed Chairman Kumar’s sentiments, expressing pride in the collaboration between Doordarshan and KVIC.

He emphasized that this collaboration signifies a moment of great pride for Doordarshan, as it reinforces the organization’s commitment to showcasing the rich heritage of Khadi to the world through the styling of DD India anchors.
