Kiren Rijiju Opens Haj-2025 Applications, Introduces Haj Suvidha App

New Delhi, 14th August. Kiren Rijiju, Union Minister for Minority Affairs, officially opened the application process for Haj-2025 through the Haj Committee of India. For the first time, applications can be submitted via the newly introduced Haj Suvidha App, alongside the Committee’s website. A quota of 1,75,025 pilgrims has been allocated by Saudi Arabia for the upcoming pilgrimage.

The Government of India has taken various steps to simplify the Haj process. Among the reforms is the inclusion of women aged 45 and above to perform Haj without a male companion under the Ladies without Mehram (LWM) category. In 2024, a record 4,558 women participated in this category, with plans to further expand access for Haj-2025.

The Haj Suvidha App, first launched during Haj-2024, continues to enhance the pilgrimage experience by offering features such as training content, accommodation details, emergency services, and language translation. For Haj-2025, early preparations have already begun, with a focus on securing the best arrangements for accommodation and logistics in Saudi Arabia.

Key changes for Haj-2025 include a reduction in the age criteria for pilgrims needing a companion, now set at 65 years, and the removal of the requirement to deposit physical passports for extended periods. Healthcare services will also be improved, with digital health cards linked to the Haj Suvidha App to ensure better medical care during the pilgrimage.

The Government is increasing the ratio of Haj Inspectors (formerly Khadim-ul-hujjaj) to 1:150 pilgrims to provide better assistance. Customised banking services will also be available through Domestic Systemically Important Banks (D-SIB) across the country and at embarkation points.
