Samastipur/Begusarai, 24th Oct: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday launched an aggressive campaign across poll-bound Bihar, addressing back-to-back rallies in Samastipur and Begusarai.

He urged voters to reject the opposition RJD-Congress combine, describing its leaders as “people out on bail,” and predicted a record-breaking victory for the NDA in the upcoming Assembly elections.

The PM contrasted the cohesive NDA alliance, which includes Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), Lok Janshakti Party led by Chirag Paswan, Hindustani Awam Morcha headed by Jitan Ram Manjhi, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha under Upendra Kushwaha, with the fractured INDIA bloc, portraying it as a coalition riven by internal conflicts.

Addressing the crowd in Samastipur, Modi referenced Bharat Ratna Karpoori Thakur, paying tribute to the former Chief Minister’s legacy in Thakur’s native village, and took exception to Congress using the epithet “Jan Nayak,” historically associated with Thakur, for Rahul Gandhi.

Appealing to young voters, Modi recalled the end of “jungle raj” in October 2005 and urged them to ensure prosperity (“samriddhi”) and good governance (“sushasan”) by voting for the NDA.

He also reaffirmed that the alliance would contest under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, countering opposition claims that the BJP planned to replace the 75-year-old JD(U) president post-polls.

Highlighting NDA’s governance record, Modi said Bihar received three times more central assistance under the NDA than during the UPA era.

He pointed to improvements in local agriculture, particularly in fish and Makhana exports, and the establishment of a Makhana board to boost cultivation and marketing. He also credited the NDA government with curbing Maoist insurgency that once affected several districts.

Modi slammed the RJD-Congress, alleging corruption and insensitivity toward women and flood victims. He urged women voters to reject the opposition, reminding them of past instances where the parties opposed women’s reservation.

The Prime Minister also paid homage to late Congress leaders, Karpoori Thakur and Sitaram Kesri, highlighting Kesri’s humiliation under the Nehru-Gandhi family despite his rise from a backward class to Congress president.

True to form, Modi addressed the Samastipur rally in Maithili and Begusarai in Angika, while paying tribute to folk singer Sharda Sinha in Begusarai.

The 243-member Bihar Assembly goes to polls in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results declared on November 14.
