Kashi Tamil Sangamam 3.0 to Celebrate Cultural Ties Between Tamil Nadu and Kashi

The third edition of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS 3.0) will be held from February 15 to 24, 2025, in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Organized by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with multiple ministries and the Government of Uttar Pradesh, this prestigious event aims to celebrate the deep-rooted civilizational ties between Tamil Nadu and Kashi.

This year’s event is particularly significant as delegates will also witness the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj and visit the newly inaugurated Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Bringing Together Diverse Delegates

The government has arranged for around 1,000 delegates from Tamil Nadu across five categories:

  1. Students, teachers, and writers
  2. Farmers and artisans (Vishwakarma categories)
  3. Professionals and small entrepreneurs
  4. Women Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Mudra Loan beneficiaries
  5. Startups, innovation, Edu-Tech, and research scholars

Additionally, 200 Tamil-origin students from various central universities will join to deepen the cultural bond between Tamil Nadu and Kashi.

Honoring Sage Agasthyar

This year’s theme will focus on Sage Agasthyar and his contributions to Siddha medicine, classical Tamil literature, and Indian culture. An exhibition on his life and legacy will be set up in Kashi, alongside seminars, workshops, and book releases on his scholarly contributions.

A Journey Through the Years

  • KTS 1.0 (2022): Inaugural event with 2,500 Tamil delegates, highlighting literary and cultural connections.
  • KTS 2.0 (2023): Held at Namo Ghat, Varanasi, with PM Narendra Modi inaugurating the event and introducing real-time Tamil translation of his speech.

Strengthening ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’

A brainchild of PM Narendra ModiKashi Tamil Sangamam seeks to:

  • Celebrate literary, spiritual, and artistic ties between Tamil Nadu and Kashi.
  • Encourage academic collaborations between scholars from both regions.
  • Showcase traditional art, crafts, and cuisine to enhance cultural appreciation.
  • Provide Tamil students an opportunity to explore the historical and educational heritage of Kashi.

With Kashi Tamil Sangamam 3.0, the government continues its commitment to fostering national unity and strengthening India’s rich cultural heritage.
