Hubballi, 4th May. The sex video scandal involving JDS MP Prajwal Revanna has sparked political upheaval in Karnataka, with the state BJP chief BY Vijayendra accusing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy DK Shivakumar of being obsessed with the scandal while neglecting other pressing issues.
Addressing reporters, Vijayendra criticized the Karnataka government for seemingly obsessing over the alleged pen drive containing obscene videos. He emphasized the BJP’s stance on the matter, affirming that the party does not support the accused and that the law would take its course. He reiterated that the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations against Prajwal Revanna underscores the government’s seriousness in addressing the issue.
However, Vijayendra expressed concern that the state government’s preoccupation with the scandal has overshadowed its other responsibilities and commitments. He suggested that the Congress might be using the scandal as a political tool, a sentiment echoed by the public.
Last Tuesday, the JDS suspended Prajwal Revanna, who hails from a prominent political family, following the initiation of an SIT investigation into the allegations against him.
Vijayendra asserted that the scandal would not sway the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing the electorate’s determination to re-elect Narendra Modi as Prime Minister for a third term.
Regarding allegations of prior knowledge about the case, Vijayendra dismissed them as baseless, stating that he had no prior information. He also raised suspicions about the timing of the scandal’s release, insinuating that the Congress might have been aware of it earlier but chose to reveal it strategically after the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections.
Vijayendra called for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to clarify the circumstances surrounding the scandal’s timing, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding political drama in Karnataka.
