Kamal Nath: The End of a Political Battle, Facing the Final Blow

GG News Bureau
New Delhi, 8th April.
It is unlikely that Kamal Nath, who has spent the last forty years manipulating Congress politics like a “paperweight” on the table, ever dreamed that he would end up a “paperweight” himself. In the spirit of the Congress’s catchphrase, “Do or die,” his family is engaged in combat in the Chhindwara Lok Sabha election arena. Nakul Nath is only a tool as a candidate; in actuality, Kamal Nath’s remaining political career is in jeopardy.

Kamlesh Shah, who represented Chhindwara in the Amarwada assembly constituency, resigned from the legislature and the Congress to join the BJP. Mayor Vikram Ahake of Chhindwara and Chairman Pramod Sharma joined the BJP, stepping out from under his nose. With his two sons, Deepak Saxena abstained from the politics of Kamal Nath, having given up his entire youth and career for the politician. Saffron scarves were worn by almost 5000 Congress members from the Lok Sabha district. Seeing all of this brings to mind the BJP slogan, “This war is end-to-end, just the last blow,” which was created by “Jaawali” actor Anil Madhav Dave.

Kamal Nath claims that the Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency electoral campaign has turned into a battleground. But is it really a one-sided fight? To comprehend the deadly blow dealt by the BJP, let’s explore the Kamlesh Shah tragedy in Amarwara. In 2023, tribal leader Kamlesh Shah defeated BJP candidate Monica Batti by a massive margin of 25086 votes in the assembly election. In this case, Congress received 109765 votes in favor. Nakulnath prevailed in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections with a margin of 36,000 votes. He had a lead of just 14,000 votes in the remaining six assemblies in the region, with 22502 of these winning votes coming from the Amarwada region. Right now, Kamlesh Shah from Amarwada is in the BJP’s court. When Mayor Vikram Ahake—whose supporters included Rahul and Priyanka—and his Chairman surreptitiously went toward the BJP, Kamal Nath was not even aware of it.
In this instance, the BJP was successful in demonstrating that, even if Kamal Nath chops off his head and serves it to them on a platter, nobody has any standing in front of their own family. It was Deepak Saxena’s face that came forth to solidify this conviction. In the short-lived Madhya Pradesh Congress government, Deepak Saxena took the oath of office from the members. Kamal Nath was searching for a seat to fill as soon as he was appointed Chief Minister, and Deepak Saxena offered his seat to ‘Saheb’. Saxena anticipated receiving a gratuity in the form of Saheb’s Lok Sabha seat. However, Deepak felt betrayed when Nakul Nath was put forward for the Lok Sabha elections.

The same thing happened to him in 1996 when the Hawala affair caused his ticket to be revoked, forcing him to drop his wife Alkanath off in Chhindwara. He resigned and ran in the 1997 by-elections, just eight months after winning the position. In general, Chhindwara and Delhi play the identical version of the “Nath dynasty” game that is played in Gondwana.

Return now to the events of February. The announcement in the final week of this month that the Kamal Nath family had joined the BJP. It was obvious that something was cooking as smoke was rising from his Delhi house. Congress was absent from Nakul Nath’s social media posts, indicating that Saheb will only be joining the BJP as his next destination. His disciple Sajjan Singh Verma was giving his supporters instructions to wait and be ready for Saheb’s choice outside the bungalow’s boundary walls.

In the event, if analysied by the hints given off, the defection plan would have failed since a sufficient number of MLAs failed to come together, Scindia lacked the guts to step down in front of his supporters, and in the end, the state BJP government—which was enjoying a majority—need Kamal Nath. Neither one was present.
Kamal Nath kept slipping off. The ordinary Congress employees received word that if the captain could consider switching sides, then why couldn’t they? Like kites, all heads were pulled to the BJP flycatcher.

For Kamal Nath, Chhindwara held the same significance that Amethi did for the Gandhi clan. Along similar lines, the story is likewise progressing. In 1977, after the Youth Congress brigade led by Sanjay Gandhi lodged a complaint against the aging Gargi Shankar Mishra, who had been winning the Chhindwara Lok Sabha seat consistently, Indira Gandhi promptly proposed a youthful, good-looking guy named Kamal Nath as a replacement.

During the Emergency and the punishment, Kamal Nath accompanied Sanjay Gandhi. Kamal Nath also helped Arjun Singh become the Chief Minister, replacing Shivbhanu Singh Solanki. This led to the establishment of Kamal Nath in Madhya Pradesh in 1980.  Subsequently, he fulfilled his share of responsibilities in each state Congress administration until becoming the Chief Minister.
Nine-time MP Kamal Nath gave his all to save the Chhindwara fort during this period. Bahurani would have become emotional on stage when he saw people gathering wheat in the fields. Merely Kamlesh Shah, the “traitor,” is the target of Nakulnath’s commands, which he intends to punish in a manner reminiscent of the treatment of slaves in India by the Jagirdar feudal lords.
The Morarji government disintegrated the day after Kamal Nath introduced Rajnarayan to Sanjay Gandhi in 1979. Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh took the oath of office. There was a period when Kamal Nath also used glass to smash stones. These days, his allies are deserting him one by one as he becomes embroiled in the conflict of his own making in Chhindwara.
