New Delhi, 1st Oct. Former Jharkhand minister KN Tripathi’s nomination for the Congress presidential election was rejected on Saturday.
Party leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Shashi Tharoor will now compete for the party president post.
The three had submitted their nominations on Friday, the final day of the process.
Madhusudan Mistry, chairman of the AICC Central Election Authority, said during a press conference at the Congress headquarters here that a total of 20 nomination forms were received during the nomination process, four of which were rejected.
While Mallikarjun Kharge submitted 14 forms, Shashi Tharoor submitted five and KN Tripathi one.
Mistry stated that KN Tripathi’s form was rejected because one of his proposers’ signatures did not match and another proposer’s signature was repeated.
