Hyderabad, 12th Dec: Former Telangana legislator K Kavitha has issued legal notices to T News, Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Madhavaram Krishna Rao, and BJP leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, demanding a formal apology for what she described as false and defamatory allegations concerning her husband’s alleged involvement in land dealings.
Kavitha, who was expelled earlier this year from the BRS by her father and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, said the claims were politically motivated and intended to malign her. She reiterated that her husband, Devanapalli Anil Kumar, has “never engaged in business on government land, but only on private land.”
The controversy escalated after Krishna Rao alleged a ₹1,000-crore land scam, questioning how Kavitha’s husband purportedly came to possess 36 acres in survey numbers 21 and 22 of Balanagar IDPL. Kavitha rejected the allegations outright, asserting she has no connection to the land in question.
In a sharp counterattack, she accused Krishna Rao’s family of being involved in the Praneeth Pranav Villas project, alleging encroachment of a lake and blocked public access. “If HYDRAA has guts, they should create access to the lake and remove the encroachments,” she said.
Kavitha also criticised the state’s land transformation policies, saying, “The BRS opened windows for corruption by converting leased lands, while Congress has thrown the doors wide open through HILT.”
She further alleged that former minister Harish Rao and the BRS leadership were orchestrating a targeted misinformation campaign against her, using Maheshwar Reddy and Krishna Rao as proxies.
Turning her attack toward the Congress government, Kavitha said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was unwilling to act against the BRS. “Revanth Reddy is like a snake who just swallowed a frog. He does not want to take any action,” she claimed, alleging that Congress leaders benefited from irregularities under the previous regime. “If there is a probe, the truth will come out,” she added.
Kavitha, reaffirming her political ambitions, declared that she intends to become Chief Minister one day and will “investigate all irregularities since 2014.”
