Jammu, 8th Feb. Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha, made a fervent appeal to the youth of the Kashmiri Pandit community on Wednesday, urging them to register as voters to ensure their active participation in the forthcoming elections in the Union Territory.
With elections for various levels of governance on the horizon, including the Lok Sabha polls, assembly elections, and elections to panchayats, local bodies, and municipal corporations, the Lt Governor emphasized the importance of political engagement.
Addressing the Kashmiri Pandit community during the foundation stone laying ceremony of a synthetic football turf at the Jagti Kashmiri Pandit camp on the outskirts of Jammu city, Lt Governor Sinha highlighted the significant representation of the community in the legislative assembly, thanks to the nomination of two members by the parliament under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Asserting the pivotal role of elections in a democracy, Lt Governor Sinha encouraged eligible individuals, particularly those who have turned 18 years old, to register as voters.
He stressed the ongoing voter registration process and urged the youth of the Kashmiri Pandit community to seize the multitude of opportunities available in various sectors.
“I urge the youth of the Kashmiri Pandit community to avail limitless opportunities in diverse sectors and fulfill the goal of Viksit Bharat,” remarked the Lt Governor, underscoring the transformative potential of active participation in the democratic process.
