Ranchi, 2nd Feb.
Jharkhand Governor C P Radhakrishnan on Thursday nominated Champai Soren, the leader of the JMM legislative party, as the new chief minister.

The governor’s Principal Secretary, Nitin Madan Kulkarni, confirmed that Soren has been invited to take the oath of office.
He said, “We have invited him to take the oath. Now they will decide when to take it.”

Soren had earlier met with the governor to request his acceptance of his claim to form the government, citing the confusion in the state due to the absence of a chief minister.

This situation arose after Hemant Soren resigned and was subsequently arrested by the ED in a money laundering case.
