Patna, 27th Oct: With only days left for the Bihar Assembly elections, the Janata Dal (United) has stepped up its disciplinary action, expelling a total of 16 rebel leaders over the weekend. On Sunday, the party removed MLA Gopal Mandal, former MLA Maheshwar Yadav, and former MLC Sanjeev Shyam Singh among five others for engaging in anti-party activities.
A day earlier, JDU had expelled 11 leaders, including former ministers and MLAs, on similar grounds. Those shown the door on Saturday included former minister Shailesh Kumar, former MLC Sanjay Prasad, ex-MLA Shyam Bahadur Singh, ex-MLC Ranvijay Singh, and others such as Sudarshan Kumar, Amar Kumar Singh, Asma Parveen, Love Kumar, Asha Suman, Divyanshu Bhardwaj, and Vivek Shukla.
The crackdown comes as Bihar heads into assembly polls in two phases — on November 6 and November 11, with results to be declared on November 14. The main contest remains between the NDA and Mahagathbandhan, though Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party has also entered the fray, adding a new twist to Bihar’s political battlefield.
