Srinagar, 31st Jan. The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was closed for the second day in a row today due to a landslide in Ramban district, stranding more than 600 vehicles.

Yesterday, mudslides and shooting stones blocked the 270-kilometer-long highway connecting Kashmir to the rest of the country between Chanderkote and Banihal in the district.

People were advised not to travel on the highway by traffic officials.

According to them, over 600 vehicles are stranded at various points along the highway.

They said men and machines had been deployed to clear the highway.

The Mughal Road, which connects Shopian district of Kashmir with Poonch district of Jammu, was also blocked for traffic due to heavy snowfall, they said.

Efforts are on to clear the road of the snow and restore traffic on it, they said.
