Jamia Millia Islamia and DU To Be Closed for Half Day on Jan 22 for Ram Temple Consecration

Jamia Millia Islamia, along with its schools, and Delhi University will be closed until 2:30 pm on January 22 due to the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

This decision was announced in official notifications released by the universities on Friday. However, pre-scheduled examinations and meetings at Jamia will proceed as planned. Similarly, interviews, selection committees, and examination practicals at Delhi University will also continue according to the previously notified schedule.

The notification from Jamia Millia Islamia stated that the university and its affiliated institutions, centers, and offices, including Jamia schools, will be closed until 2:30 pm on January 22, 2024, in observance of the Ram Lalla Pran Pratishtha ceremony in Ayodhya. A similar notification was issued by Delhi University and posted on its website.

Furthermore, all central government offices across the country will also be closed for half a day on January 22, as per an order from the Personnel Ministry. The ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony at the Ram temple’s sanctum sanctorum is scheduled for Monday, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in attendance.
