S Jaishankar, India’s External Affairs Minister, blasted opposition leader Rahul Gandhi for his remarks about China and Pakistan on Wednesday, February 2, 2022.

In his Parliamentary address, Gandhi stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government and foreign policies have pushed China and Pakistan closer together.

In response, Jaishankar recounted certain occurrences that occurred during the Congress government’s tenure. Rahul Gandhi charged in the Lok Sabha that this Government brought Pakistan and China together, he remarked.

He claimed that China built the Karakoram highway through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in the 1970s, and that CPEC began in 2013, while the Congress-led UPA was in control at the federal level.

Maybe some history lessons are in order: Pakistan illegally gave over the Shaksgam valley to China in 1963.

In the 1970s, China built the Karakoram highway through Pakistan-occupied Kashmir Jaishankar sent out a tweet.

He continued, “The two nations have had close nuclear cooperation since the 1970s, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor was launched in 2013. So, consider this: were China and Pakistan far apart back then?”

Meanwhile, the US has responded to Gandhi’s contentious remarks, claiming that it disagrees with Gandhi’s assertion that Modi’s foreign policy has enhanced the Pakistan-China connection.

‘Won’t endorse it,’ says the US in response to Rahul’s claim that China and Pakistan are working together as a result of India’s foreign policy

The US has declared that it does not agree with Congressman Rahul Gandhi’s assertion that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s foreign policy has strengthened the Pakistan-China relationship, and that the two nations should speak for themselves.

When asked for a reaction to Rahul Gandhi’s remarks in Parliament on Wednesday, US State Department spokesman Ned Price said: “I’ll leave it to the Pakistanis and the People’s Republic of China to discuss their relationship. I would not – would not agree with those sentiments “.

Price also noted that the US does not force other countries to choose between China and America, and that the US values its relationship with Pakistan.

“We’ve always emphasised the point that any country in the globe does not have to choose between the United States and China. It is our goal to give countries options when it comes to how they want to interact with the United States.

And we believe that partnering with the US provides a set of benefits that other nations do not have when it comes to the kinds of partnerships – “partnerships” may be the incorrect word; the kinds of relationships that the PRC has attempted to establish across the world,” Ned Price added.

“The United States views Pakistan as a vital partner. “We have a significant relationship with the administration in Islamabad, and we cherish that relationship on many levels,” he said.
