Jaish-e-Mohammed Launches Online Women’s Recruitment Course

New Delhi, 22nd Oct: New documents obtained exclusively by NDTV reveal that Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), a United Nations-designated terrorist organisation, has launched an online women’s training course named Tufat al-Muminat to aid recruitment and fundraising.

The course, set to begin on November 8, will be conducted online and feature 40-minute daily lectures led by Masood Azhar’s sisters, Sadiya Azhar and Samaira Azhar. Women family members of Jaish leaders, including those of founder Masood Azhar, will instruct participants on their ‘duties’ in relation to jihad and Islam, encouraging them to join the group’s women’s unit, Jamat ul-Muminat.

Sadiya Azhar has been given charge of the Jamat. Her husband, Yusuf Azhar, was among several family members killed in Operation Sindoor, an Indian airstrike on JeM’s Bahawalpur HQ in May, which was a response to the April terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam. Afreer Farooq, the wife of Pahalgam attacker Umar Farooq, is also part of the women’s unit.

The Jaish is also collecting 500 PKR (approx. ₹156) from each woman enrolling in the course, along with an online information form. This online mechanism allows women to participate without violating Pakistan’s extremist social norms that discourage women from venturing out alone. Sources say the fee highlights Pakistan’s failure to fully implement Financial Action Task Force (FATF) regulations.

The Jamat ul-Muminat was officially announced by Azhar on October 8. On October 19, in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, an event titled ‘Dukhtaran-e-Islam’ was organised to begin integrating women into the group.
