New Delhi, 8th Feb. In response to a query in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, Union Minister of State for Science & Technology Dr. Jitendra Singh said that the proposed configuration of the Bharatiya Antariksh Station (BAS), to be developed by ISRO, is currently in the conceptualization phase.
The Minister outlined that aspects such as the overall architecture, module types, docking ports, among others, are under study.
Dr. Jitendra Singh disclosed that ISRO is diligently working towards establishing the space station by 2035, with plans for its assembly in phases. To this end, the agency is formulating a comprehensive roadmap for the realization and launch of various modules.
Furthermore, the Minister highlighted that India’s future moon exploration missions are also in the conceptualization stage. Feasibility studies are being conducted for robotic exploration, encompassing orbiters, landers, rovers, lunar sample collection, and return missions, culminating in human landing on the Moon.
Dr. Jitendra Singh affirmed that the allocation of funds for the establishment of the space station will be sought upon the completion of feasibility studies. The proposal will subsequently undergo formal government approval at an appropriate juncture.
