IPS Praveen Sood Appointed Director of CBI

New Delhi, 15th May. The high-powered selection committee led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi selected IPS officer Praveen Sood (IPS:1986:KN) as the Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for two years on Sunday.

Sood will succeed Subodh Kumar Jaiswal (IPS:1985:MH), whose term ends on May 25. Sood is currently the DGP of Karnataka.

On Saturday, the selection committee led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi shortlisted three candidates for the post of CBI Director and forwarded their names to the Cabinet Appointments Committee: Praveen Sood, DGP (Karnataka), Sudhir Kumar Saxena, DGP (Madhya Pradesh), and Taj Hassan, Director General, Fire Service, Civil Defence, and Home Guards.
