Dehradun, 22nd July: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Monday declared that attempts to “defame” the ongoing Kanwar Yatra would not succeed, asserting the administration’s vigilance against such incidents since the pilgrimage began on July 10.

“In the initial days, some people tried to defame the Kanwar Yatra, but due to the administration’s vigilance, prompt actions ensured that no incident occurred. The Kanwar Yatra is a sacred pilgrimage for us. Some people want to defame that yatra, but their intentions will not succeed at any cost,” Chief Minister Dhami stated.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Traffic Police issued a comprehensive advisory on Monday, detailing traffic arrangements for the significant movement of Kanwariyas in the national capital. Key routes in Delhi are slated to remain closed from July 21 to July 23 to facilitate the smooth and safe passage of pilgrims.

The advisory, shared by Delhi Traffic Police on X (formerly Twitter), specified closures including parts of GT Road, routes from Seemapuri to Apsara Border, Anand Vihar to Apsara Border, and GT Road to Vivek Vihar Underpass. Alternative routes have been suggested for commuters affected by these restrictions.

The Kanwar Yatra is an annual Hindu pilgrimage where devotees of Lord Shiva, known as Kanwariyas, collect holy water from sacred rivers, primarily the Ganga, and carry it over long distances to offer at prominent Lord Shiva temples. Devotees often observe fasts and perform rituals throughout this journey.
